Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a disorder that develops in some people who have experienced or witnessed an alarming, shocking or dangerous event. Most people will recover from initial fight or flight symptoms, but those with PTSD will continue to experience stress and fear long after the traumatic event has ended.

Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally. Schizophrenia may result in some combination of hallucinations, delusions and extremely disordered thinking and behavior impairs daily functioning and can be disabling. Symptoms of Schizophrenia may include:

  • Depression, social withdrawal
  • Hostility or suspiciousness and extreme reaction to criticism
  • Deterioration of personal hygiene 
  • Flat, expressionless gaze
  • Inability to cry or express joy or inappropriate laughter and crying
  • Oversleeping or insomnia
  • Odd or irrational statements

Fibromyalgia is a neurosensory disorder characterized by widespread muscle pain, joint stiffness and fatigue. The condition is chronic (ongoing), but pain comes and goes and moves about the body. 

Symptoms may include

  • Morning stiffness
  • Difficulties with memory or concentration 
  • Numbness or tingling in the body
  • Sensitivity to temperature, bright lights and loud noises
